Gibson Custom Shop NICK LUCAS Re-issue 2000 Sunburst Spruce Acoustic Guitar Description The Nick Lucas model, Gibson's first artist model, began production in 1927. Initially, it was an archtop guitar, but from 1934 onwards, following the other L-series models, it transformed into a flat-top model. This particular guitar is a reissue of the flat-top model. With maple sides and back, it boasts a brilliant and well-balanced sound! It features a solid spruce top, solid flame maple sides and back, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, a 43.7mm nut width, and a 24.75-inch scale length on a 14 3/4-inch small body. While it appears quite compact from the front, its body depth of approximately 12cm provides a surprisingly rich and resonant sound! The sound is bright and glossy, as expected from a maple body, but thanks to its deep body, it also has volume in the mid-low range, resulting in a rich, full-range sound from high to low! When strummed with a flat pick, it produces a sound with a surprising amount of volume for such a small body, making it perfectly usable with a flat pick. When fingerpicked, it produces a well-defined, uniquely sparkling, glossy sound characteristic of maple, so you can enjoy the glossy maple sound unique to this model in any genre or playing style! The instrument's condition is generally good, with only a few minor scratches, making it a beautiful instrument overall! It's also worth noting the minimal weather checking, which is common in Gibsons of this year. There's a faint weather check on the headstock, but almost none on the body or neck, suggesting excellent storage conditions. While Gibson's weather checking has its own unique, dignified character, it's certainly better without it (laughs). There are some small dents and scratches, and a few scuff marks on the back of the neck, but overall, it's in remarkably good condition for a Gibson of this era.
